Is It Recommended To Use Mosaic Noce Travertine On A Shower Floor If It Is Sealed, Or Is It Too Porous?

We’re remodeling a bathroom and I’ve heard conflicting information about shower floors. The natural stone is 1″ x 1″ tumbled noce travertine to be professionally installed and sealed in a 4 x6′ area on the floor of the shower. One designer said it is too porous and is not recommended. A reference book does recommend it as a good material for wet areas. Any experience in this area is appreciated by professionals.
